The Party
The theme for the party is…
“Great Tasmanian Icons”
The party will be your chance to try and experience what it is really like to be a Tasmanian, and dress up as one of our great local icons. For those into sport, be prepared to bring a pillow or two for your best Boonie* or David Foster impersonation. For the tree-huggers, come as your favourite walking track or old growth forest. The furries might find sarcophilus harrisii or thylacinus cynocephalus are more up their alley. The historians may be partial to the colonial and convict costumes. And finally for the un-imaginative, just strap a balloon to your shoulder and pretend you have that second head for the night.
We’ve barely scratched the surface of possibilities, so do your research, and make sure you look like a local as you do your best Tassie two-step at the party.
The Party Venue
The venue for the party is The Observatory, down on Hobart’s waterfront (Level 1, Murray Street Pier).
The Pubs
For some unofficial social events during the tournament, we have randomly picked some pubs to point people towards if they want to have a few drinks each night:
- Friday: Knopwoods (39 Salamanca Place)
- Saturday: T42 (Elizaeth Street Pier)
- Sunday: The Party (see above)
- Monday: The Duke (192 Macquarie Street)
